Overview

About boom mowing & hedge trimming

The boom mower reaches out and over the places nothing else gets near. Roadside edges, drain banks, steep faces, culvert surrounds and long driveways all get cut back in a fraction of the time it takes with a handheld, and to a far tidier standard.

The machine is based in the Nelson Tasman region and works right through the growing season. A regular pass keeps a property looking sharp, and just as importantly it keeps ditches and water tables doing their job when the heavy rain arrives.

Good for: Farms, orchards, lifestyle blocks, forestry road owners and anyone with long driveways or steep banks to keep under control.

Why it matters

Worth booking in

01

Reaches what you cannot

The boom gets over fences and down banks, so there is no scrambling around on a slope with a line trimmer.

02

Keeps drains working

Overgrown ditches block up in heavy rain. A cut before winter is far cheaper than the repair afterwards.

03

Fast on long runs

Long driveways and roadsides that take days by hand are done in hours.

Our approach

How we do it

We agree the line and the height before we start, and work at a pace that leaves a clean cut rather than a shredded mess. Fences, markers, culvert ends and young plantings get worked around carefully. On roadsides we keep an eye on traffic and cut with it rather than against it.

How it works

What to expect

01

Tell us about it

Call or message with a couple of photos and a rough idea of access. That is usually enough for us to tell you what machine it needs and roughly what it will cost.

02

We look at the site

For anything bigger we walk the site with you. Where the spoil goes, how water runs off afterwards and how we get the machine in all get sorted before we start.

03

Job done, site tidy

We work through it, keep you posted, and leave the ground in a state you can use. If we spot something that will cause you grief later, we will tell you.

When to book

Signs it's time to get us out

If any of these sound familiar, it's worth a quick call, we're always happy to advise before you book.

  • Hedges or driveway edges have got away over summer
  • Ditches and water tables are choked with growth
  • A bank is too steep to mow safely by hand
  • A forestry road or access track is closing in
Questions

Frequently asked

How often should it be done?
Most places suit once or twice a season. Roadsides and drains are worth doing before winter regardless.
Do you do one off jobs?
Yes, plenty of our mowing work is a single tidy up rather than a regular round.
Do I need to be there?
Not usually, as long as we have agreed the line and the access beforehand.
What area does the mower cover?
It is based in the Nelson Tasman region and travels across the wider area.
