Overview

About building platforms & site prep

Before a build starts, someone has to make the ground work. We clear the site, bench the platform, dig the foundations and get the access sorted so trucks and concrete can actually reach it. On sloping sections that often means terracing, retaining and thinking hard about where the runoff goes.

We also handle the awkward one off jobs that come with rural building. Shifting a tiny home, placing a container, cutting a pad for a shed or a tank, or opening up access to a site that has never had a vehicle on it.

Good for: Builders, owner builders and anyone putting a house, shed, tiny home or tank onto a rural or sloping section.

Why it matters

Worth booking in

01

Access planned early

A platform you cannot get a concrete truck to costs far more to fix later than it does to plan properly now.

02

Runoff sorted first

New platforms change where water goes. We deal with that at the earthworks stage rather than after the slab is down.

03

Machines for tight sites

The mini gets into sections where the bigger machines simply will not fit.

Our approach

How we do it

We work off your plans and levels where you have them, and off common sense where you do not. Platform, access and drainage get planned together, because a perfect pad with no way to get a concrete truck to it is not much use to anyone.

How it works

What to expect

01

Tell us about it

Call or message with a couple of photos and a rough idea of access. That is usually enough for us to tell you what machine it needs and roughly what it will cost.

02

We look at the site

For anything bigger we walk the site with you. Where the spoil goes, how water runs off afterwards and how we get the machine in all get sorted before we start.

03

Job done, site tidy

We work through it, keep you posted, and leave the ground in a state you can use. If we spot something that will cause you grief later, we will tell you.

When to book

Signs it's time to get us out

If any of these sound familiar, it's worth a quick call, we're always happy to advise before you book.

  • You have a build consented and need the ground prepared
  • A sloping section needs benching or terracing
  • A shed, tank or tiny home needs a pad and access
  • The site has no vehicle access yet
Questions

Frequently asked

Do you work off engineer's plans?
Yes, we work to plans and levels where they exist and can work alongside your builder or engineer.
Can you shift a tiny home or container?
Yes, we have done both. Send us the details and we will tell you what is involved.
Do you do the retaining as well?
Rock walls yes. For engineered timber or concrete retaining we can prepare the ground and work in with your builder.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you can, particularly over the drier months when every build site wants the same window.
