Excavation & Earthworks
Diggers from 2.7 to 22 tonne for trenching, bulk earthworks, dams and everything in between.

About excavation & earthworks
We run a range of excavators so the machine matches the job rather than the other way round. A 2.7 tonne mini fits through a standard gateway for drainage, trenching, tank holes and small landscaping work. Step up to the 14 and 22 tonne machines and we can shift real volume for driveways, house sites, dams and slip repair.
Most of our work is on lifestyle blocks, farms and rural sections around Nelson, Tasman and Golden Bay, so sloping ground, soft going in winter and awkward access are normal rather than a surprise. If you are not sure what size machine your job needs, send a photo and we will tell you straight.
Good for: Lifestyle block owners, farmers and builders who want earthmoving done by someone who thinks about drainage and access, not just digging.
Worth booking in
Machine suited to the ground
Running a machine that is too big chews up the ground you are trying to improve. Too small and you pay for extra days.
Drainage thought through
Earthworks that ignore where the water will go just create the next problem. We plan the runoff as part of the job.
One operator, start to finish
The person who quotes it is the person on the machine, so nothing gets lost in the handover.

How we do it
Every job starts with a look at the ground and a conversation about what you want it to look like when we are finished. Where the spoil goes, how water will run off afterwards and how we get the machine on and off all get sorted before anything comes off the trailer. We keep topsoil separate where it matters and leave the site usable.

What to expect
Tell us about it
Call or message with a couple of photos and a rough idea of access. That is usually enough for us to tell you what machine it needs and roughly what it will cost.
We look at the site
For anything bigger we walk the site with you. Where the spoil goes, how water runs off afterwards and how we get the machine in all get sorted before we start.
Job done, site tidy
We work through it, keep you posted, and leave the ground in a state you can use. If we spot something that will cause you grief later, we will tell you.
Signs it's time to get us out
If any of these sound familiar, it's worth a quick call, we're always happy to advise before you book.
- You need a trench, tank hole or building platform dug
- Ground is sitting wet and needs shaping or draining
- A paddock, track or section needs levelling before the next stage
- You have been quoted by someone who never looked at the access
